You can contact your local Golden Retriever Kennel Club to find potential breeders in your area. Some of the clubs have web sites to assist you. You can find some of them in the Links Section, under your country, Club & Organizations.
You can also use the Breeder Search in the navigation bar to try to find a local breeder.

2. What should I be looking for when acquiring my Golden Retriever puppy / dog?

1. Who were the sire and dam of the puppy / dog? Do they have all of their clearances (hips, elbows, eyes, heart)? Are the clearances current?
2. What is the temperment of the parents and the puppy / dog in question?
3. Who was the breeder? Does the breeder have a good reputation in the Golden Retriever community?

You can check the Listing section of the GRWeekly and look under Dogs Available. You can also place your own listing up in the Dog Wanted section.
You can look in the Listing section of the GRWeekly under Puppies Available. You can place a listing for Puppy Wanted for others to see.
In general, I do not recommend purchasing a puppy from a pet store. These puppies have generally been produce from a puppy mill which may have genetic / health related issues.
Check out the Links section for your country under Breeders. Contact them for potential dogs that are available.
Contact your local Golden Retriever Club, become a member and / or go to some of the local shows and events.

You can check the Listing section of the GRWeekly and look under Puppies or Dogs Available. You can also place your own listing up in the Dog Wanted section.
Contact your local Golden Retriever Rescue Group, they might have just the perfect pet that you are looking for.
Conduct a Breeder Search from the navigation bar for your country under Breeders. Contact a breeder in your area for potential dogs that are available.
Contact your local Golden Retriever Club, become a member and / or go to some of the local shows and events.

You can check in the Links section of the GRWeekly. Click on your country and the Rescue Group category. You will find selected links for some of the rescue groups and one link which is a Google search showing a large number of rescue groups throughout the United States.
