"Maggie & Murphy"
I've always heard that the best dog is a Golden Retriever. They make the best pets, are the easiest to train, are wonderful with families, are so sweet and gentle, yeah, yeah, yeah. Retriever owners usually never stop singing their praises. Well, when my husband and I decided to get a dog, we wanted to see if all the hype was true, so we got a Golden.
Sixteen weeks ago Maggie came into our lives and our world has not been the same since. Why doesn't everyone have a Golden? What's wrong with people? She's the most sweet, gentle, loving creature I have ever known. As much as we've come to love her, we knew from the beginning that we wanted to get two dogs that were close in age. So we found her a little brother.
Yes, it would be hectic and difficult the first few weeks, maybe even months, but the rewards would be worth it. They would be buddies, playmates and friends. But then the fleeting thought enters my mind, what if Maggie doesn't accept the new puppy?
Yesterday, little brother Murphy arrived and Maggie is in Heaven !! They run, play tug of war, and race around the kitchen like it's the Kentucky Derby. Then (of course) they nap. What was I thinking?! She adores him as much as he adores her, and my husband and I couldn't have possibly known how much we would come to adore the both of them.
Our life is truly GOLDEN.
